Astrology of Now: Sugar-coated Bitter Truth

The planet of chit-chat, Mercury, and the planet of syrup,Venus, are currently strolling hand-in-hand through the sign of the scorpion. What does that mean?

Personally, I think Mercury is rather good in Scorpio. OK, so Mercury in Scorp has a habit of telling the truth, or even worse telling the truth that you hoped was going to stay a secret, or one that is just plain nasty.

BUT sometimes the truth sets you free. Mercury in Scorpio is incisive, intelligent and cuts to the essence of an argument. Mahatma Gandhi had this placement. So did John Lennon. Both were known for their sense of irony.

Venus and Mercury steal
through the underground world.*
Venus is in detriment. She hates being in Scorpio (so dank, so dark, so unfun). Her jealous, possessive side erupts. Her desires are darker, deeper, more unbridled. But this year Mercury, who also symbolises intelligence, holds her hand, helping her control her compulsions – or at least acknowledge them.

So what does this mean for us? Be prepared for some revelations that may leave you (or people around you) feeling uncomfortable. If you have to be the truth-teller, now is a good time to go about it because you will be able to deliver your message with diplomacy.

You may have some revelations about yourself – and your deepest darkest desires.

*This is from The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald, and shows the princess and Curdie pursued by goblins underground. In this instance, they are avatars of Venus and Mercury. It's a remarkable book, the forebear of all modern fantasy, and at the same time a kind of remaining of the myth of Persephone.
