Fat Boy, Fukushima and Japan Facing Frankenstein

Godzilla emerged from the depths of the ocean back in 1954, and trashed Tokyo. He may have been a plastic monster in a less than B-movie, but he also symbolised something important.

Let me explain.

A rather attractive Polish version of Godzilla.
Godzilla - as you may recall (I had to look it up to remind myself) - was created by American nuclear testing in the Pacific. His breath was radioactive.

1954: less than ten years after two nuclear bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, wiping out both cities and killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Japan has a relationship with the nuclear industry like no other nation.

Godzilla is a version of Frankenstein: science gone wrong.

Now Frankenstein (and associated stories), as you may recall from a previous post, is, I believe, symbolised by the rebel planet Uranus.

Uranus in his guise of shocker played a starring role in the tsunami a few days ago, storming from Pisces into Aries, where he's now wreaking change in more ways than we yet know. He was also in his malevolent guise on a previous occasion when hundreds of thousands of Japanese people died: the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 at 8.15AM.

Hiroshima
There is Uranus right at the top of the chart conjuncting Mars, the warrior, in the sign of flight, Gemini. The atom bomb was the result of brilliant scientists producing something evil: bad science.

Notice also that the Sun is just past a conjunction to Pluto, the dark lord of the underworld and Mercury, lord of flight, has just risen, in the same sign as Jupiter but too wide for conjunction. In the chart for 911, Mercury is rising.

Jupiter on the ascendant: a big event. The bomb was called Fat Boy. Followed by Chiron: much pain. And Neptune: weeping.

So how does this chart compare to now? I have drawn up a chart for the next full Moon in order to get an overview of the times and cast it for Hiroshima. There are some disturbing similarities.

On March 19, Uranus and Mars sandwich the Sun in Pisces. Neptune and Chiron are close to conjunct - just as they were in 1945. This time Pluto is on the point of a t-square with Jupiter and Saturn - those old enemies - squaring off across the signs of war and peace, Aries and Libra. Pluto is the planet we associate with nuclear science, but I think we should consider Uranus too. Pluto is squaring the midpoint of Uranus and Jupiter, the planet that expands.

As in 1945, Jupiter and Mercury are sharing a sign, although today it is in the sign of beginnings - and of violence - Aries. Jupiter is in mutual reception with Mars in Pisces, which means both planets are stronger: Jupiter in the sign of force and Mars in the sign of the sea.
Full Moon, Mar 19, 2011, Japan.

You know, I like to look on the bright side but sometimes I feel afraid. I think Japan's nuclear industry is a Frankenstein.

In this Full Moon chart, I look to Pallas Athene, goddess of wisdom, rising, followed by Venus, the planet of peace and love and hope they  bring something better.
