JK Rowling: The Perfect Writer's Chart

talent and wit.

She's the first person to make a billion by writing books. She's ignited the imaginations of about a gazillion children on every continent. She's managed to make a Virgo cool - well, sort of. 

For those of you who are not Potter fans, I'm talking about  the author JK Rowling, creator of Harry Potter et al. The cool(ish) Virgo is Hermione Granger, Harry Potter's brainy sidekick.

Even without a birth time, you can see that Rowling has the perfect writer's chart.

• The full house in the writer's sign Virgo - including Venus (art) Pluto (drive) and Uranus (wacky). Most likely her Moon is there too (writing is in her soul).

  Pallas in Aquarius: she'd be a super astrologer

• The spark of creative imagination, energy and self-belief from the Sun in Leo
• Jupiter in the other writer's sign, Gemini, with the North Node (her destiny) in a very wide conjunction. Rowling's love of trivia and jokes is evident in the books - both very Jupiter in Gemini, especially with the sextile
• Her Mercury (writing) is on the royal star, Regulus (also the name of Sirius Black's wicked brother.), which brings fame.  Mercury is also the planet associated with "boy" and Mercury on Regulus perfectly symbolises the idea of the noble boy hero - Harry Potter
  
• Her chart is also locked into the big planets of her generation. There's no time for her birth, but Moon must be in Virgo near Uranus-Pluto and opposite Saturn. This gives her a real soul connection with the zeigeist
• Neptune (imagination, the collecitve) sextiles the Virgo stellium. Neptune in Scorpio is dreaming of death in one sense - and the Harry Potter books, as Rowling herself says, are all about death
• Neptune also trines that nasty Chiron-Saturn conjunction in Neptune's own sign, Pisces. This conjunction is about pain - it is generational, but in her chart it keys in with personal planets. The Potter books are on one level an exploration of the pain of bereeavement and abandonment. Without having experienced pain, how could she have spoken so directly to the collective? Saturn-Chiron in Pisces can experience pain on a collective level

• And here's a Rowling special: Pallas Athena, the asteroid of synthesising systems, is in inventive Aquarius and creates a lovely grand trine from Mars to the North Node. What does that tell us - aside from the fact that Rowling would make a good astrologer? Well, Rowling invented a whole world with its own politics, games, gizmos and gravity. (The Romans, of course, called Pallas Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Minerva  McGonagall is Harry's head of house. Rowling had a great aunt who taught classics - I wonder if she was just a bit like Professor M?) Having a strong Pallas must help if you need to make up a whole universe.

 Rowling says that she was very Hermioneish when she was at school - and with all that Virgo you can see why. So Hermione is one alter ego in the books, but so is Harry himself, who shares Rowling's birthday and probably represents the self she would wish to be - brave, noble and courageous. Hermione is Rowling's brains but Harry is her heart - and it is he, of course, who suffeers the greatest pain through the books.

Then there's Ron Weasley, of course, but that is another post.
